Sweetgreen Calories: Salads, Bowls, Warm Plates, and Why a Salad Isn't Automatically Light
Sweetgreen salads run 465 to 615 calories, yet the 510-calorie Chicken Pesto Parm bowl beats four of them. Official numbers with real order math.
A Sweetgreen salad runs 465 to 615 calories, bowls run 510 to 900, warm plates 755 to 880, and wraps 990 to 1,320. The surprise: the 510-calorie Chicken Pesto Parm bowl is lighter than four of the six signature salads. Every number below is from Sweetgreen's official US nutrition guide, last updated September 2026.

What about build-your-own?
Sweetgreen's public nutrition guide lists ingredients for every base, protein, topping, and dressing, but it does not publish calories for them one by one. So there is no official per-ingredient table to copy here. Sweetgreen's app does have a macro calculator that updates as you swap ingredients, which Sweetgreen announced in November 2025. For a custom bowl, that in-app number is the official one to use.
A salad isn't automatically low calorie
The official numbers make the point on their own. The Chicken Pesto Parm bowl (510) is lighter than the Kale Caesar, Guacamole Greens, Buffalo Chicken, and Chicken Sesame Crunch salads. The lightest salad, Super Green Goddess at 465, has 32g of fat and only 12g of protein, so about 62% of its calories come from fat. A salad is a format, not a calorie count. Dressings, crunchy toppings, avocado, and cheese are what move the total.
How to build a low-calorie order
Ranked by calories saved, from the official numbers:
- Kale Caesar salad instead of the Classic Chicken Caesar wrap: saves 445 (545 vs 990), and you still get 41g of protein.
- Chicken Sesame Crunch Salad instead of the wrap version: saves 405 (615 vs 1,020).
- Chicken Pesto Parm instead of the Autumn Harvest Bowl: saves 390 (510 vs 900), with almost the same protein (38g vs 39g).
- Focaccia instead of Roasted Bacon Brussels as your side: saves 210 (230 vs 440). Skip the side entirely and you save all 440.
- Crispy Rice Treat instead of the Hu chocolate bar: saves 190 (190 vs 380).
- Spindrift Lemon instead of Ginger Greens: saves 117 (3 vs 120). The house juices are 100 to 120 each.
- Caramelized Garlic Steak instead of Miso Glazed Salmon: saves 110 (770 vs 880) on the warm plates.
Five orders under 700 calories
- The leanest high-protein bowl: Chicken Pesto Parm + Spindrift Lemon. 510 + 3 = 513 calories, 38g protein
- The protein salad: Kale Caesar + Spindrift Raspberry Lime. 545 + 5 = 550 calories, 41g protein
- The fiber pick: Guacamole Greens + Hibiscus Berry Tea. 555 + 45 = 600 calories, 29g protein, 12g fiber
- The steak bowl: Steak Honey Crunch + OLIPOP Vintage Cola. 605 + 35 = 640 calories, 32g protein
- The spicy salad with a lemonade: Buffalo Chicken + Sweetgreen Lemonade. 580 + 100 = 680 calories, 37g protein
Five highest-protein orders
- Kale Caesar + Rosemary Focaccia: 545 + 230 = 775 calories, 41 + 8 = 49g protein, the cheapest route to 49g on the menu
- Hot Honey Chicken plate: 845 calories, 49g protein, the most protein of any single bowl or plate
- Chicken Pesto Parm + Hummus + Focaccia: 510 + 290 = 800 calories, 38 + 10 = 48g protein
- Classic Chicken Caesar wrap: 990 calories, 47g protein
- Harvest Bowl: 760 calories, 40g protein
The Cali Chicken Club wrap also has 49g, but at 1,285 calories it costs 510 more than order #1 for the same protein. Kale Caesar and Chicken Pesto Parm tie for the best protein per calorie on the menu, about 7.5g per 100 calories. To see how that stacks up against other chains, the fast food protein index ranks hundreds of items by the same measure.

How to log this in Nouri
I switched to AI photo trackers after MyFitnessPal, and when I checked their estimates against the actual ingredients, they came in low: a plate the camera called around 400 calories worked out closer to 700. The camera cannot see the oil in the pan or the portion under the garnish. A salad is the extreme case, since the dressing is mixed in and the toppings sit under the greens. That gap is why I built Nouri.
At Sweetgreen you already know the order, so the fastest honest log is to type it like a note: "kale caesar, focaccia, raspberry lime spindrift." Nouri itemizes it and shows its reasoning per item, and if you asked for extra dressing, add "extra caesar dressing" and it recalculates. Nouri is iPhone (iOS only), and you can try it free.
Walking out with the bag, Siri logs it with the phone locked: "Hey Siri, track food in Nouri," then the bowl name, and a calories and macros card shows what you have left for the day. A photo works too when the bowl is open on the table; Nouri writes out the sentence it read first, so you can fix "light dressing" before it counts.
On Sunday evening, the Nouri Report shows how the week actually went: average calories and protein against your targets, days on target for your goal, and one clear focus for next week.

Are Sweetgreen salads actually healthy for weight loss?
They can be, but a salad is not automatically light. The Chicken Pesto Parm bowl is lower in calories than four of the six signature salads, and the lightest salad gets about 62% of its calories from fat. Pick by the number, not the format.
What has the most protein at Sweetgreen?
The Hot Honey Chicken warm plate and the Cali Chicken Club wrap both have 49g, at 845 and 1,285 calories. A Kale Caesar with a Rosemary Focaccia also reaches 49g at 775 calories.

How does Sweetgreen compare to Panera for calories?
Both chains have salads that look lighter than they are. Sweetgreen's signature salads sit between 465 and 615, and our Panera calorie guide breaks down Panera's salads, soups, and bread bowls with the same order math.
What is the easiest way to track Sweetgreen calories?
Type the bowl name and any changes into Nouri, or say them to Siri on the way out. Nouri returns calories and macros with per-item reasoning, and you can add "extra dressing" to recalculate. The weekly Nouri Report then shows how those lunches fit your goal.
Pick from the tables, then log the whole bag, drink and cookie included, in Nouri as one sentence. If you eat out a lot, how to log restaurant meals covers the habits that keep those numbers honest, and the Chipotle bowl breakdown is the next stop for build-your-own bowls.
