Protein Intake Calculator
Protein is the macro worth tracking first. This calculator uses the exact body-weight anchor the Nouri app uses to set your daily protein target, with the per-meal math done for you.
This is the exact protein target Nouri sets for you, and the app computes it free. The body-weight anchor above is the app's own rule, published here in full. Get your target in Nouri free →
How the target works
Nouri anchors protein to your body, not your calorie budget: weight in pounds x 1.0 (or x 1.2 when you prioritize protein), rounded. The reasoning: protein's job is keeping and building muscle, which scales with the body you carry, so the target stays high even when calories drop in a cut. Fat and carbs then divide the remaining calories, the full split the macro calculator shows.
A worked example
A 154 lb (70 kg) person, standard setting: 154 x 1.0 = 154g per day, which is 616 calories of protein and about 39g per meal across four meals.
Protein targets by body weight
| Body weight | Standard (x1.0) | Prioritized (x1.2) |
|---|---|---|
| 120 lb (54 kg) | 120g | 144g |
| 140 lb (64 kg) | 140g | 168g |
| 154 lb (70 kg) | 154g | 185g |
| 180 lb (82 kg) | 180g | 216g |
| 200 lb (91 kg) | 200g | 240g |
| 220 lb (100 kg) | 220g | 264g |
What those grams look like in real food

FAQ
How much protein do I need a day?
This tool uses Nouri's anchor: body weight in pounds x 1.0, or x 1.2 when prioritizing protein. Treat it as a working target to test against your results, and involve a professional for medical situations.
Is this the same number Nouri gives me?
Yes, the same anchor and rounding the app applies when it sets your macro targets, published here exactly.
Is 1g per pound too much protein?
It is a common target for active people and one of the safer macro levers to set high: protein is satiating and protects muscle in a deficit. If you have kidney disease or medical concerns, ask your doctor first.
When should I use the 1.2 setting?
When building muscle is the point: training hard, eating at maintenance or above, or dieting while trying to hold every gram of lean mass.
Do I need protein at every meal?
Even distribution makes big targets practical: 154g is daunting as one number and manageable as roughly 39g x 4. The per-meal figure above does that math live.
Do protein calories count toward my calorie target?
Yes, at 4 calories per gram, and the calculator shows the total. In Nouri's split, protein calories are allocated first and carbs absorb what remains.
What are cheap ways to hit a high protein target?
The lean staples: chicken, eggs, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, canned fish, whey. From the verified table above, grilled beats breaded on protein per calorie almost everywhere.
How do I track protein without weighing food?
Describe meals consistently and read per-item grams: in Nouri, "greek yogurt with granola and a scoop of whey" comes back split into items with protein attached, so the day's pace is one glance.
