A Five Guys Hamburger is 840 calories and a Regular fries is 953, so the classic burger-and-fries meal lands near 1,800 calories before a drink. The Little Hamburger (one patty) is 540, and every topping has its own published number. All figures come from Five Guys' official US menu pages and its September 2026 Nutrition & Allergen Guide.

Official menu data

Five Guys publishes nutrition two ways: finished items (burgers, dogs, sandwiches) on its menu pages, and building blocks (patties, buns, fries, every topping, shake base, every mix-in) in its Nutrition & Allergen Guide PDF. We use the menu pages for finished items and the guide for everything else. Protein and fiber appear only where Five Guys publishes them.

Burgers

A regular Five Guys burger has two patties; the "Little" version has one. That is the whole difference, and it is worth 300 calories.

Item Calories Protein
Little Hamburger (1 patty) 540 23g*
Little Cheeseburger 610 not published
Little Bacon Burger 620 not published
Little Bacon Cheeseburger 690 not published
Hamburger (2 patties) 840 39g*
Bacon Burger 920 not published
Cheeseburger 980 not published
Bacon Cheeseburger 1,060 not published

*Five Guys does not publish protein for finished burgers. These are built from the guide's components: patty 16g, bun 7g. The calories line up with the menu: 302 + 240 = 542 for one patty (menu: 540) and 302 + 302 + 240 = 844 for two (menu: 840).

Components from the guide:

Component Calories Protein Fiber
Hamburger patty 302 16g 0g
Hamburger bun 240 7g 1g
Cheese, 1 slice 70 3 to 4g 0g
Bacon, 2 pieces 70 to 73 5 to 6g 0g

Where two numbers appear, Five Guys lists two suppliers and the value depends on which one your store uses.

Toppings (build your own)

All toppings are free, which is exactly why they add up. Per serving, from the guide:

Topping Calories
Mustard 0
Pickles 0
Hot Sauce 0
Lettuce 3
Green Peppers 3
Jalapeño Peppers 3
Grilled Mushrooms 6
Tomatoes 8
Onions / Grilled Onions 11
A.1. Sauce 15
Relish 16
Ketchup 30
BBQ Sauce 49
Cheese, 1 slice 70
Bacon, 2 pieces 70 to 73
Mayonnaise 103 to 111

The pattern is simple: the vegetables are close to nothing, ketchup and BBQ are moderate, and mayo, cheese, and bacon are the real costs. Five Guys' toppings web page shows some rounded figures that differ from the guide (for example 40 for hot sauce, 5 for lettuce); we use the guide, which is the detailed source.

Hot dogs and sandwiches

Item Calories
Veggie Sandwich 265
Cheese Veggie Sandwich 415
Grilled Cheese 470
Hot Dog 520
Cheese Dog 590
BLT 600
Bacon Dog 600
Bacon Cheese Dog 670
Patty Melt 790

Egg sandwiches (400 to 700) are sold only at select locations.

Fries

Size Five Guys Style Cajun Style Protein Fiber
Little 526 540 8g 8g
Regular 953 967 15g 15g
Large 1,314 1,328 20g 21g

Fries are cooked in refined peanut oil, and Five Guys says an extra scoop comes standard. Cajun adds only 14 calories at any size. The fries web page shows a 530 to 1,100 range; the guide's per-size values are higher at the top end, so we use the guide. Even a Little fries is about the same as a Little Hamburger.

Milkshakes and mix-ins

Every shake starts with the same vanilla base: 524 calories, 10g protein. Whipped cream adds 6 to 7. Mix-ins are free and unlimited, and each adds:

Mix-in Calories
Coffee 27
Bacon 70
Blackberry Sauce 80
Strawberry 107
Oreo Cookie Pieces 120
Chocolate 133
Reese's Peanut Butter Cup 150
Salted Caramel 155
Banana 174
Oreo Crème 320
Peanut Butter 322

So a vanilla shake with whipped cream is 524 + 7 = 531, an Oreo shake is 524 + 120 + 7 = 651, and a peanut butter shake is 524 + 322 + 7 = 853. Five Guys notes that values for shakes with two or more mix-ins will vary.

Drinks and extras

Item Calories Protein
Apple Juice 35 0g
Low Fat Milk 90 7g
Orange Juice Blend 140 1g
Chocolate Milk 150 8g
Cheese Sauce 92 4g
Five Guys Sauce 169 less than 1g
Peanuts, 1 oz 170 7g

How to build a low-calorie order

Ranked by impact, from the official numbers:

  1. Little fries instead of Regular: saves 427 (526 vs 953). From a Large, it saves 788. Sharing a Regular does the same job.
  2. Little Hamburger instead of the Hamburger: saves 300 (540 vs 840). One patty is still a real burger.
  3. Peanut butter out, coffee in, for your shake mix-in: saves 295 (322 vs 27).
  4. Burger bowl or lettuce wrap: saves 240, the bun's full value from the guide.
  5. Hamburger instead of Cheeseburger: saves 140 (840 vs 980).
  6. Skip the mayo: saves 103 to 111. Use mustard, which is zero, and pile on the vegetables, which barely register.

What does not matter: Cajun versus regular seasoning (14 calories) and lettuce, tomato, pickles, peppers, or onions (0 to 11 each).

Five orders under 700 calories

  1. The Little, dressed light: Little Hamburger + lettuce + tomato + pickles + mustard. 540 + 3 + 8 + 0 + 0 = 551 calories, 23g protein
  2. The double bowl: two patties in a burger bowl + lettuce + tomato + grilled mushrooms + grilled onions + mustard. 302 + 302 + 3 + 8 + 6 + 11 + 0 = 632 calories, 32g protein
  3. The hot dog classic: Hot Dog + mustard + relish + onions. 520 + 0 + 16 + 11 = 547 calories
  4. The veggie route: Cheese Veggie Sandwich + Low Fat Milk. 415 + 90 = 505 calories
  5. The bacon fix: Little Bacon Burger + lettuce + tomato. 620 + 3 + 8 = 631 calories

Five highest-protein orders

Protein is built from the guide's components (patty 16g, bun 7g, fries and milk as listed), since Five Guys does not publish it for finished burgers.

  1. Hamburger + Regular fries: 840 + 953 = 1,793 calories, 54g protein (16 + 16 + 7 + 15)
  2. Hamburger + Chocolate Milk: 840 + 150 = 990 calories, 47g protein (16 + 16 + 7 + 8), the better ratio
  3. Hamburger + Little fries: 840 + 526 = 1,366 calories, 47g protein (16 + 16 + 7 + 8)
  4. Two-patty bowl + Little fries: 302 + 302 + 526 = 1,130 calories, 40g protein (16 + 16 + 8)
  5. Hamburger alone: 840 calories, 39g protein (16 + 16 + 7)

Real-world orders, broken down

The lean order: "little hamburger with lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions, mustard"

Component Calories
Little Hamburger 540
Lettuce 3
Tomatoes 8
Pickles 0
Grilled Onions 11
Mustard 0
Total 562

Five toppings, 22 calories. This is how toppings should work.

The standard order: "cheeseburger with ketchup and mayo, regular fries"

Component Calories
Cheeseburger 980
Ketchup 30
Mayonnaise 111
Regular fries 953
Total 2,074

The most common Five Guys tray is about a full day's calories for many people, and the fries are nearly half of it. We used the higher mayo value here.

The indulgent order: "bacon cheeseburger all the way, regular cajun fries, oreo shake"

Component Calories
Bacon Cheeseburger 1,060
All the way toppings (grilled onions 11, mushrooms 6, lettuce 3, pickles 0, tomatoes 8, ketchup 30, mustard 0, mayo 111) 169
Regular Cajun fries 967
Vanilla shake + Oreo pieces + whipped cream (524 + 120 + 7) 651
Total 2,847

"All the Way" is Five Guys' own topping combo, and 111 of its 169 calories are the mayo.

How to log this in Nouri

Before I built Nouri I used camera-based trackers. They were fast, but their numbers kept coming in low, because a camera cannot see what is hidden. A foil-wrapped Five Guys burger is the extreme case: the camera cannot see whether there is one patty or two, or the mayo under the lettuce. You, on the other hand, just ordered it.

So the honest way to log Five Guys is the sentence you said at the counter. In Nouri, "little cheeseburger with mayo, pickles, grilled onions, little cajun fries" is one line, itemized so you can see the mayo as its own row. Say it out loud, type it like a note, or ask Siri from the lock screen: "Hey Siri, track food in Nouri," then the order in one sentence, and the calories card shows what is left for the day right away. A photo works too when the tray is laid out clearly, and Nouri shows the sentence it read so you can fix "one patty" before it counts. If the fries were shared, add "half" and it recalculates. Nouri is iPhone (iOS only), and you can try it free.

On Sunday evening, the Nouri Report shows how that Friday burger sat inside your whole week: average calories and protein against targets, days on target for your goal, and one clear focus for next week.
