Domino's Calories: The Official Numbers, and Why There Is No Per-Slice Figure

A 1/8 serving of a 12-inch Domino's cheese pizza is 200 calories, which is not the same as a slice. Official component data, whole-pizza totals by crust and size, wings, sides, and an FAQ.

An eighth of a 12-inch Domino's Hand Tossed cheese pizza is 200 calories, and a whole one is 1,600. A 14-inch large is 285 per eighth and 2,280 whole. Those numbers come from adding Domino's own published component data, and the reason we have to add them is the most important thing on this page: Domino's does not publish a calorie total for a cheese pizza, and it does not publish how many slices a pizza is cut into. Its guide gives you a crust row, a sauce row, a cheese row, and one row per topping, each at a serving size expressed as a fraction of the pizza. So every "calories per slice of Domino's" figure you have ever read, including ours, is arithmetic somebody did on top of Domino's data. Here is that arithmetic, shown in full so you can check it.

The fraction trap, which matters more than any single number

Domino's serving sizes are fractions, and the fraction changes with the crust:

12-inch medium, cheese only Domino's serving basis Calories per serving Whole pizza
New York Style 1/6 of pizza 200 1,200
Crunchy Thin 1/4 of pizza 315 1,260
Hand Tossed 1/8 of pizza 200 1,600
Pan Pizza 1/8 of pizza 295 2,360
Parmesan Stuffed 1/8 of pizza 325 2,600

Read the first and third rows together. A New York Style serving and a Hand Tossed serving are both 200 calories, and the whole pizzas differ by 400, because one is cut into six and the other into eight. If you compare "per serving" figures across crusts you will draw exactly the wrong conclusion. The whole-pizza column is the only fair comparison, and it says what you would expect: thin and New York are the light options, Pan is 47 percent heavier than Hand Tossed, and Parmesan Stuffed is the heaviest pizza Domino's publishes at 2,600 for a medium.

Also worth knowing: Domino's does not tell you the slice count. Its guide says "1/8 of pizza," not "one slice." If your medium arrives cut into eight, the two coincide. If it arrives cut into six, each piece is a third more than the published serving.

Official numbers: cheese pizza by size

Hand Tossed with regular cheese, summing Domino's published crust, garlic oil blend, sauce, and cheese rows:

Size Serving basis Per serving Protein Sodium Whole pizza
8-inch extra small 1/2 of pizza 375 13g 685mg 750
10-inch small 1/3 of pizza 390 16g 800mg 1,170
12-inch medium 1/8 of pizza 200 8g 420mg 1,600
14-inch large 1/8 of pizza 285 11g 595mg 2,280
16-inch extra large 1/8 of pizza 380 16g 770mg 3,040

The 8-inch is flagged in Domino's guide as available in select markets only.

Adding toppings, and a quirk worth knowing

Domino's publishes two different cheese rows. One is for a cheese-only pizza, and a second, lower one applies when other toppings are present, because less cheese goes on. On a 12-inch medium that is 70 calories of cheese alone against 50 with toppings. That produces a genuinely counterintuitive result:

12-inch medium Hand Tossed, per 1/8 Calories Protein
Cheese only 200 8g
Green peppers or spinach 180 7g
Mushrooms or onions 185 7g
Ham 190 8g
Premium chicken 200 9g
Pepperoni 210 8g
Bacon 225 10g
Italian sausage 230 9g

A one-topping pepperoni pizza is only about 10 calories per serving more than cheese-only, because the pepperoni adds 30 and the reduced cheese subtracts 20. A veggie pizza actually lands below cheese-only for the same reason. These are Domino's own published rows added together, not an estimate, and it is the sort of thing no photo of a pizza will ever tell you.

Specialty pizzas, where Domino's does publish totals

For specialty pizzas Domino's publishes assembled totals, on Hand Tossed crust only. Note the serving fractions differ again: small is 1/4, medium 1/5, large and extra large 1/8.

Specialty pizza (Hand Tossed) Medium, per 1/5 Large, per 1/8 Protein (large)
Pacific Veggie 360 310 12g
Spinach & Feta 370 320 13g
Wisconsin 6 Cheese 390 330 14g
Honolulu Hawaiian 380 330 14g
The People's Pizza, Deluxe 390 340 13g
Memphis BBQ Chicken 410 350 15g
Ultimate Pepperoni 420 360 15g
Philly Cheese Steak 370 310 13g
MeatZZa 420 370 15g
ExtravaganZZa 440 380 16g
Spicy Chicken Bacon Ranch 480 410 16g

A medium specialty at 1/5 of the pizza is a bigger piece than a medium cheese pizza at 1/8, which is most of why the specialty numbers look so much higher. Two changes since the previous guide: Cali Chicken Bacon Ranch and Buffalo Chicken are no longer listed, and Deluxe is now printed as The People's Pizza, Deluxe.

Wings, sides, and desserts

Bone-in wings are published per 4 pieces. Domino's does not publish a per-piece value or state how many wings are in an order.

Item Serving Calories Protein
Plain wings, no sauce 4 pieces 250 14g
Hot Buffalo wings 4 pieces 260 15g
Mild Buffalo wings 4 pieces 260 15g
Honey BBQ wings 4 pieces 310 15g
Sweet Mango Habanero wings 4 pieces 310 15g
Garlic Parmesan wings 4 pieces 390 15g
Boneless chicken 3 pieces 170 9g
Side or dessert Serving Calories Protein
Garlic Bread Bites 4 pieces 210 5g
Parmesan Bread Bites 4 pieces 210 5g
Stuffed Cheesy Bread 1 piece 150 6g
Pepperoni Stuffed Cheesy Bread 1 piece 170 7g
Cheddar Bacon Loaded Tots 1/4 of order 240 7g
Classic Garden Salad 1.5 cup 80 3g
Chicken Caesar Salad 1 container 220 19g
Chocolate Lava Crunch Cake 1 cake 350 4g
Marbled Cookie Brownie 1 brownie 200 2g
Cinnamon Bread Bites 4 pieces 230 5g

Dips are per cup and are easy to underestimate: Garlic is 250, Blue Cheese 200, Ranch 160, Sweet Icing 220, Honey BBQ 70, Marinara 30, Hot Buffalo 15. A garlic dip costs more than a slice of medium cheese pizza.

Salad dressings are packaged separately and are the single biggest trap on the list. A Classic Garden Salad is 80 calories; a 1.5-ounce packet of Marzetti Garden Ranch is 220, nearly three times the salad.

How to build a lighter Domino's order

Ranked by calories saved, all from the tables above:

  1. Choose New York Style or Crunchy Thin over Pan or Stuffed. On a medium, that is 1,200 to 1,260 against 2,360 to 2,600 for the whole pizza, the largest single lever available.
  2. Order a smaller pizza rather than fewer slices of a big one. A whole 12-inch cheese is 1,600; a whole 16-inch is 3,040. Intentions about leftovers rarely survive the first hour.
  3. Take vegetables as your topping. Peppers and spinach bring the per-serving number below cheese-only, because of the reduced cheese row.
  4. Skip the dips, or take marinara. Garlic dip is 250 and marinara is 30, for a saving of 220 on a choice most people make without reading.
  5. Dress the salad yourself, or skip the packet. 220 calories of ranch on an 80-calorie salad is the worst exchange rate on the menu.
  6. Ask for light cheese. On a 12-inch medium that is 50 against 70 per serving, or 160 off a whole pizza.

Five orders under 600 calories

Every total below is the sum of the published rows shown.

  1. Two servings of 12-inch Hand Tossed cheese: 200 + 200 = 400 calories, 16g protein
  2. Three servings of 12-inch New York Style cheese: 200 x 3 = 600 calories, 27g protein
  3. Two servings of 14-inch large cheese: 285 + 285 = 570 calories, 22g protein
  4. Chicken Caesar Salad plus one serving of 12-inch Hand Tossed cheese: 220 + 200 = 420 calories, 27g protein, dressing left off
  5. Four plain wings plus a Classic Garden Salad: 250 + 80 = 330 calories, 17g protein

Five highest-protein orders under 800 calories

  1. Eight plain wings plus a garden salad: 250 + 250 + 80 = 580 calories, 31g protein
  2. Chicken Caesar Salad plus four plain wings: 220 + 250 = 470 calories, 33g protein
  3. Two servings of large Spicy Chicken Bacon Ranch: 410 + 410 = 820 calories, 32g protein, just over the line and listed for honesty
  4. Chicken Caesar Salad plus two servings of 12-inch chicken pizza: 220 + 200 + 200 = 620 calories, 37g protein
  5. Six boneless chicken pieces plus a garden salad: 170 + 170 + 80 = 420 calories, 21g protein

How to log Domino's in Nouri

Pizza is the food that taught me to log what I ate rather than what I ordered. A shared pizza has no serving size, only a number of pieces that disappeared, and by the time you are three in you have stopped counting. Database logging makes this worse, because it asks you to pick an entry called "pizza slice" that has no idea whether your pizza was a 12-inch thin or a 16-inch stuffed, a difference of more than 200 calories per piece.

What I do instead is describe the actual event: "three slices of large Domino's pepperoni, hand tossed, and a couple of ranch-dipped wings." Nouri itemizes it, the pizza separate from the wings separate from the dip, and I can see that the ranch was 160 of it. When I genuinely do not know the crust, I say so and let the estimate take the middle, then correct the one line if I find out later. Being roughly right about three slices beats being precisely right about a serving size nobody measured. Nouri is iPhone (iOS only), and you can try it free.

FAQ

How many calories in a slice of Domino's pizza?

Domino's does not publish a per-slice figure, only fractions of a pizza. An eighth of a 12-inch Hand Tossed cheese pizza is 200 calories and an eighth of a 14-inch is 285, from adding its published component rows.

How many calories in a whole Domino's pizza?

For Hand Tossed cheese: about 750 for an 8-inch, 1,170 for a 10-inch, 1,600 for a 12-inch, 2,280 for a 14-inch, and 3,040 for a 16-inch.

Which Domino's crust has the fewest calories?

New York Style, at about 1,200 for a whole 12-inch cheese pizza, just ahead of Crunchy Thin at 1,260. Parmesan Stuffed is the heaviest at 2,600 and Pan is 2,360.

How many calories in Domino's thin crust pizza?

A 12-inch Crunchy Thin cheese pizza is about 1,260 calories whole. Be careful with per-serving comparisons: Domino's counts thin crust in quarters, so a serving is 315 calories, larger than a Hand Tossed eighth.

Does Domino's publish nutrition information?

Yes, in a downloadable nutrition guide, but for build-your-own pizzas it publishes per-ingredient rows rather than assembled pizza totals, and it does not state slices per pizza. Specialty pizzas do have published totals, on Hand Tossed crust only.

How many calories in Domino's pepperoni pizza?

About 210 per eighth of a 12-inch medium, from Domino's own rows. It is only about 10 more than cheese-only because Domino's publishes a lower cheese value when toppings are present. For a published total, the Ultimate Pepperoni specialty is 420 per fifth of a medium.

How many calories in Domino's wings?

Per 4 pieces: 250 plain, 260 Hot or Mild Buffalo, 310 Honey BBQ or Sweet Mango Habanero, and 390 Garlic Parmesan. Domino's does not publish a per-piece figure.

What is the healthiest thing at Domino's?

By calories and protein, wings or the Chicken Caesar Salad without dressing, at 250 per four wings and 220 respectively. Among pizzas, New York Style or Crunchy Thin with vegetable toppings.

How many calories in Domino's garlic dip?

250 per cup, which is more than a serving of medium cheese pizza. Marinara is 30 and Hot Buffalo is 15 if you want a dip that costs nothing.

How many calories in Domino's Stuffed Cheesy Bread?

150 per piece plain, 170 for the pepperoni or bacon and jalapeno versions. Domino's does not publish the piece count for an order.

Is Domino's salad actually low calorie?

The salad is, at 80 calories for a Classic Garden Salad. The dressing is not: a single ranch packet is 220, so the assembled salad can pass 300 with the dressing alone contributing most of it.

How do I count calories on a shared pizza?

Count pieces eaten and multiply by the published per-serving figure for that size and crust, accepting that the cut may differ from Domino's fraction. Describing it afterwards, as covered in How to Log Restaurant Meals, is more reliable than pretending you measured.

Pick the crust first, because that decision is worth more than every topping choice combined, then log what actually got eaten as a sentence in Nouri. Our pizza slice guide covers the same problem with USDA data, and Calorie Counting 101 covers the target this all has to fit inside.
