Costco Food Court Calories: Every Item Ranked (US and Canada, 2026)
A Costco hot dog is 580 calories, a cheese slice 710, a Chicken Bake 840. Every US and Canada food court item ranked by calories and protein.
The lowest-calorie meal at a US Costco food court is the famous $1.50 hot dog: 580 calories with a diet soda or the new water option. A cheese pizza slice is 710, the Chicken Bake 840, and the 5-piece Chicken Strips with dipping sauce a whopping 1,640. In Canada, the poutine tops the board at 1,850 calories, with 57g of protein.
Where do these numbers come from?
Costco does not publish food court nutrition on costco.com or costco.ca. What it does publish is in the warehouse: calories on the US menu boards (the boards add "additional nutrition information available upon request"), and a full nutrition binder at the food court counter in Canada.
So every number in this post comes from Costco's own in-warehouse material, photographed by members and posted publicly. We read each photo ourselves and linked every one in Sources. Here is what that means in practice:
- US: calories only, because that is all the boards show. Prices are as posted on those boards.
- Canada: full macros from Costco's "Food Service, Western Canada" nutrition sheet. Recipes can vary by region, so Ontario or Quebec numbers may differ a little.
- Rotisserie chicken: Costco's own US deli nutrition sheet and the Costco Australia product page.
Anything we could only find on third-party calorie sites is left out, and we say so where it matters (hello, Apple Pie Sundae).
How many calories are in Costco food court items in the US?
Sorted from lightest to heaviest, as posted on US menu boards. Prices are approximate, from the same boards, and can vary by warehouse and state.
| Item | Price (USD, approx.) | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Soda, 20 oz with refill | $0.79 | 0 to 270 |
| Strawberry Banana Smoothie | $2.99 | 320 |
| Ice Cream Cup | $1.99 | 550 to 570 |
| 1/4 lb all-beef hot dog + 20 oz soda | $1.50 | 580 to 850 |
| Cold Brew Mocha Freeze | $2.99 | 580 |
| Pepperoni pizza, 1 slice | $1.99 | 650 |
| Ice Cream Sundae | $2.49 | 650 to 690 |
| Cheese pizza, 1 slice | $1.99 | 710 |
| Rotisserie Chicken Caesar Salad | $6.99 | 710 |
| Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie | $2.49 | 750 |
| Hot Turkey and Provolone Sandwich | $6.99 | 820 |
| Chicken Bake | $3.99 | 840 |
| Chicken Strips, 5 pieces + dipping sauce | $6.99 | 1,640 |
| Whole 18-inch pepperoni pizza | $9.95 | 3,880 |
| Whole 18-inch cheese pizza | $9.95 | 4,260 |
The hot dog range is the drink doing the math. Soda runs 0 to 270 calories, so the dog itself is 580 (580 + 270 = 850 for the full-sugar version). Since April 2026 you can also swap the soda for a 16.9-ounce bottle of Kirkland Signature water at the same $1.50.
Fun fact hiding in the pizza row: 710 × 6 = 4,260, so a food court slice is exactly one sixth of a whole cheese pie. That is not a slice. That is a lifestyle.
The menu rotates: the Combo Calzone (1,080 calories) gave way to the Chicken Strips in 2026, and not every warehouse has the salad or sandwich. If your board shows something different, trust your board.
How many calories and how much protein in Costco Canada food court items?
Canada's binder gives the full picture, protein included. Here is every food item on the Western Canada sheet, ranked by calories:
| Item | Calories | Protein | Carbs | Fat | Sodium | Protein per 100 cal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Polish Beef Hot Dog | 580 | 23g | 46g | 34g | 1,600 mg | 4.0g |
| Beef Frankfurter Hot Dog | 590 | 24g | 45g | 35g | 1,600 mg | 4.1g |
| California Style Crab Roll | 620 | 23g | 90g | 17g | 2,590 mg | 3.7g |
| Pepperoni Pizza, 1 slice | 660 | 34g | 73g | 27g | 1,880 mg | 5.2g |
| Cheese Pizza, 1 slice | 690 | 40g | 73g | 27g | 1,750 mg | 5.8g |
| French Fries | 870 | 10g | 107g | 46g | 1,620 mg | 1.1g |
| French Fries and Gravy | 940 | 11g | 119g | 48g | 2,240 mg | 1.2g |
| Chicken Strips and Fries | 1,010 | 32g | 103g | 54g | 2,530 mg | 3.2g |
| Poutine | 1,850 | 57g | 149g | 116g | 3,440 mg | 3.1g |
A few things jump out:
- The cheese slice is the protein MVP. 40g of protein for 690 calories beats the hot dog on both total protein and protein per calorie.
- The poutine is a whole day's adventure. 1,850 calories is about 3.1 hot dogs' worth, and Costco's own sheet lists it at 150% of the daily value for sodium and 155% for fat.
- Fries are the weakest link. 870 calories for 10g of protein. Adding gravy only costs 70 more calories, which is honestly the best deal on the sheet if you were getting fries anyway.
- The crab roll is not the light option it looks like. 620 calories, 90g of carbs and 2,590 mg of sodium (113% of the daily value on Costco's sheet).
Condiments are close to free: ketchup is 20 calories per 15 ml, mustard 0, relish 20, and the 57 g scoop of onions is 25. Pile them on.
Which Costco food court item has the most protein?
In Canada, the poutine wins on total protein with 57g, but it costs 1,850 calories to get there. Per calorie, the cheese pizza slice wins with 5.8g of protein per 100 calories, followed by the pepperoni slice at 5.2g.
In the US, Costco's boards do not list protein, so we can't rank US items by it honestly. The full US nutrition sheet is available at the counter on request, which is worth doing if you are a regular.
The real protein champion at Costco is not in the food court at all. It is in the deli. Costco's US deli sheet lists Rotisserie Chicken Breast at 19g of protein for 140 calories per 3 oz (84 g), or 13.6g per 100 calories. That is more than double the cheese slice's ratio. For more ways to stretch protein per dollar, see our cheapest protein foods and how the Kirkland shake stacks up against Nurri and Fairlife.
What is the best protein per dollar at the Costco food court?
Using Canadian prices reported by Narcity in July 2026 (CAD, approximate, and they vary by province):
| Item | Price (CAD, approx.) | Protein | Protein per dollar | Calories per dollar |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beef hot dog + pop | $1.50 | 24g | 16.0g | 393 |
| Cheese pizza slice | $2.59 | 40g | 15.4g | 266 |
| Pepperoni pizza slice | $2.59 | 34g | 13.1g | 255 |
| Poutine | $6.99 | 57g | 8.2g | 265 |
| Chicken Strips and Fries | $7.99 | 32g | 4.0g | 126 |
The $1.50 hot dog combo is still the protein-per-dollar king, with the cheese slice a hair behind and actually ahead on protein per calorie. The Chicken Strips and Fries are the worst value for protein on the board. We left the Cali crab roll out of this table because we could not verify its current price from a reliable source.
In the US, with calories as the only official number, the funniest stat is calories per dollar: the hot dog gives you 387 calories per dollar, a cheese slice 357, and a whole cheese pizza a staggering 428. Costco is genuinely the cheapest energy in America. Whether you need that much energy before loading a 48-pack of paper towels is between you and your cart.
Is the Costco Apple Pie Sundae worth the calories?
The new limited fall item in US food courts is the Apple Pie Sundae: vanilla ice cream, apple pie topping, and pie crust pieces, for $2.99.
We could not verify its calories. Member posts quote a range, but we did not find a Costco menu board or nutrition sheet showing it, so we are leaving the number out. For context, the regular Ice Cream Sundae on US boards is 650 to 690 calories. Track it as an estimate, enjoy it, and move on. A sundae is not a moral event.
How many calories are in a Costco rotisserie chicken?
The rotisserie chicken is not technically food court, but Costco shoppers in the US, Canada and Australia all search it, so here it is.
US (Costco deli nutrition sheet, March 27, 2026): Rotisserie Chicken Breast, 3 oz (84 g): 140 calories, 19g protein, 7g fat, 0g carbs, 460 mg sodium. That sheet covers breast meat only, not the whole bird or skin.
Australia (costco.com.au, Kirkland Signature Rotisserie Chicken, extra large):
| Per | Energy | Protein | Fat | Saturated fat | Carbs | Sodium |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Serving (350 g, about 4 per chicken) | 2,700 kJ (646 Cal) | 58.1g | 46.2g | 13.3g | Less than 1g | 557 mg |
| 100 g | 772 kJ (185 Cal) | 16.6g | 13.2g | 3.8g | Less than 1g | 159 mg |
Four servings of 58.1g works out to about 232g of protein per chicken. If you split a bird four ways, each person gets more protein than a Canadian poutine for about a third of the calories. The US bird is still $4.99 in 2026, per Good Housekeeping, which is why it lives rent-free in every budget meal prep conversation.
Aussies: Costco Australia's food court is its own world too, with an all-pork hot dog and soda for A$1.99 and pizza slices at A$2.99. For local fast food, see the highest-protein fast food in Australia.
What is the healthiest order at the Costco food court?
"Healthiest" depends on your goal, but here are honest picks:
- Lowest calories (US): hot dog with water or diet soda, 580 calories.
- Lightest real meal with greens (US): Rotisserie Chicken Caesar Salad, 710 calories. Ask for the dressing on the side if you want to control how much goes on.
- Most protein per calorie (Canada): cheese pizza slice, 40g for 690.
- Best protein value overall: skip the counter and grab a rotisserie chicken from the deli.
- Sharing hack: a whole pizza is 3,880 to 4,260 calories. Split it six ways and everyone gets one slice instead of fighting over "just one more."
If weight loss is your goal, a 600 to 800 calorie lunch can fit into a normal day. Use the daily calorie needs calculator to see where it lands for you, and the protein intake calculator for a protein target. If you have a history of disordered eating, please work with a doctor or registered dietitian before tracking.
Five orders from lightest to most indulgent
- The classic: hot dog + water = 580 + 0 = 580 calories (US)
- Slice and sip: pepperoni slice + diet soda = 650 + 0 = 650 calories (US)
- The protein play: cheese slice + diet pop = 690 + 0 = 690 calories, 40g protein (Canada)
- The double: hot dog + cheese slice = 580 + 710 = 1,290 calories (US)
- The full send: poutine + beef hot dog = 1,850 + 590 = 2,440 calories, 81g protein (Canada)
Order 5 is more than many people eat in a whole day. No judgment. Just track it so tomorrow's plan knows what happened today.
How I track a Costco food court run in Nouri
Food court meals are the easiest thing in the world to track, because you already know exactly what you ordered. That is why I built Nouri the way I did. I used MyFitnessPal first, and the numbers were fine, but tracking a normal meal took long enough that I quit. Then I tried AI photo trackers. Fast, but when I checked them against real ingredients, a plate the camera called about 400 calories was closer to 700.
A Costco hot dog in a paper sleeve is a terrible photo anyway. So I just type it: "Costco hot dog with onions and relish, and a cheese pizza slice." Nouri returns the calories, shows its per-item reasoning and a confidence rating for each, and adds calories and protein to the day. If I add "split the slice with my kid," it recalculates.
Hands full of a 30-roll toilet paper pack? Say "Hey Siri, track food in Nouri" from the lock screen and tell it the order. You can see how the methods compare in text vs voice vs photo calorie tracking.
Then on Sunday, your Nouri Report shows how the week actually went: average calories, protein against your target, and how many days you hit your goal. Most calorie apps give you numbers. Nouri gives you answers.
