Nurri and Fairlife Nutrition Plan are nutritional twins: 30g of protein and 150 calories per bottle. The difference is price. At the Seattle Costco warehouse price on Costco.com today, Nurri works out to $1.77 a can ($26.49 for 15) and Fairlife to $2.22 ($39.99 for 18). Kirkland Signature shakes were not listed on Costco.com, so we could not verify them.

Which protein shake is best at Costco?

Short answer: if you only care about protein per dollar, Nurri and Premier Protein are cheapest this week. If you want the most protein in one bottle, Core Power Elite has 42g. If you want 30g with the fewest calories, Nurri and Fairlife Nutrition Plan tie at 150.

Here is every shake we could verify from the brand's own nutrition panel, plus the price on Costco.com today (Seattle warehouse, ZIP 98101, checked October 25, 2026).

Shake Size Calories Protein Sugar Protein per 100 cal Costco warehouse price Per shake
Nurri (chocolate) 11 fl oz can 150 30g 1g 20.0g $26.49 / 15 $1.77
Premier Protein 30g 11 fl oz 160* 30g 1g 18.8g $31.99 / 18 $1.78
Fairlife Nutrition Plan (chocolate) 11.5 fl oz (340 mL) 150 30g 2g 20.0g $39.99 / 18 $2.22
Core Power Elite 42g (chocolate) 14 fl oz 230 42g 7g 18.3g $47.99 / 12 $4.00

*Premier's 160 calories is from the standard 30g shake on Premier's own site. Costco sells a "PLUS" version that Costco calls a Costco-exclusive formula with 30g protein and 1g sugar; we could not find that version's full panel on Premier's site.

Costco's own warning applies: warehouse prices vary by location. Costco.com also shows a $5.50 manufacturer's savings on Nurri that runs through October 25, 2026, so Nurri's price may rise after that. Online, it is $28.99 with the savings and $34.49 without.

What is the cheapest protein shake per gram of protein?

Price per shake is a little unfair to Core Power, which has 42g instead of 30g. So here is the cleaner comparison: what you pay for every 30g of protein.

Shake Price used Cost per 30g protein Protein per $1
Nurri $26.49 / 15 (warehouse, savings week) $1.77 17.0g
Premier Protein 30g PLUS $31.99 / 18 (warehouse) $1.78 16.9g
Fairlife Nutrition Plan $39.99 / 18 (warehouse) $2.22 13.5g
Nurri $34.49 / 15 (Costco.com online, no savings) $2.30 13.0g
Core Power Elite 42g $47.99 / 12 (warehouse) $2.86 10.5g
Orgain 30g Protein Shake $35.99 / 12 (orgain.com) $3.00 10.0g

All prices checked October 25, 2026. Costco.com prices are for Seattle (98101); online delivery prices run a bit higher than warehouse (Fairlife is $42.99 online, Premier $36.99, Core Power $48.99).

The takeaway: when Nurri is on sale, it is the cheapest 30g at Costco. When it is not, Premier edges ahead and Fairlife sits right next to full-price Nurri. For context, a ready-to-drink shake at $1.77 to $3.00 per 30g is still pricier than cooking dried beans or eggs. Our cheapest protein foods list and the 2026 protein powder price breakdown show where shakes land against real food.

Nurri vs Fairlife: what is actually different?

On the label, almost nothing. Both are ultra-filtered milk shakes with 30g of protein, 150 calories, 2.5g of fat and no added sugar. Both are lactose-free.

The small differences, straight from each brand's panel:

So the "which is healthier" debate is mostly a wash. It comes down to price, flavor and which one you will actually drink.

Is Nurri cheaper than Fairlife?

Per can, yes, at Costco this week. At this week's warehouse price, Nurri is $1.77 a can versus $2.22 for Fairlife at the Seattle warehouse. At full Costco.com online price, Nurri is $2.30 and Fairlife is $2.39, so the gap shrinks to about 9 cents.

That price gap is a big reason Nurri blew up. An r/Costco thread titled "Nurri is gross (to me)" pulled 708 upvotes and 827 comments, with the price versus Fairlife front and center. The comments did not settle anything. Some shoppers love Nurri, some swear by Fairlife, and plenty say it depends on the flavor.

Does Nurri taste better than Fairlife?

Honest answer: Reddit cannot agree, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Taste is personal, and it shifts by flavor. Nurri sells chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, coffee, mocha, cookies and cream, and salted caramel. Fairlife Nutrition Plan sells chocolate and vanilla on its site.

The cheap way to settle it: buy one pack of each, run a blind taste test with a friend, and keep the winner. A shake you hate is a bad deal at any price.

What about Kirkland Signature protein shakes?

This is the one we could not finish. Kirkland Signature protein shakes did not appear in Costco.com search results for "protein shake" or "Kirkland Signature protein shake" on October 25, 2026, and Costco did not publish a nutrition panel we could fetch. Our rule is simple: if we cannot verify it from an official source, we do not print the numbers.

If your warehouse has them, here is the 10-second math to compare on the shelf:

  1. Take the pack price and divide by the number of bottles. That is your price per shake.
  2. Divide the price per shake by the grams of protein on the label, then multiply by 30.
  3. Compare that number to the "Cost per 30g protein" column above. Under $1.78 beats everything we verified this week.

Is Core Power worth it for 42g of protein?

Core Power Elite gives you 42g of protein and 230 calories in a 14 fl oz bottle. It is the most protein in a single drink in this lineup. You pay for it: $4.00 a bottle at the warehouse, or $2.86 per 30g of protein.

It makes sense if you want one bottle after a big lift and do not want to drink two. If you are just topping up a normal day, a 30g shake does the same job for less. Fairlife's site also lists a 26g Core Power at 170 calories, but Costco sold the 42g version today.

Which shakes can you buy in Canada and Australia?

Canada: Costco.ca (Toronto, M4V) listed Fairlife Nutrition Plan in chocolate and vanilla at $54.99 CAD for 18 x 340 mL, which is $3.06 CAD per bottle. Costco.ca describes it as 30g of protein, 2g of sugar and 150 calories, made with Canadian milk. Premier Protein shakes were listed at $52.99 CAD for 18 x 325 mL. Nurri did not show up on Costco.ca when we checked, and Nurri's own FAQ lists Costco, Sam's Club and Amazon in the U.S.

Australia: Australian shelves run on a different lineup. Chobani's 30G High Protein Greek Yogurt Drink (vanilla) lists 924 kJ (221 kcal), 30.8g of protein and 15.2g of sugars per 400g serving, with 0g added sugar, on Chobani Australia's site. That is more calories than Nurri or Fairlife because it is a bigger, yogurt-based drink, but the sugar is all from the milk.

How much protein do you actually need from a shake?

Probably less than the internet suggests. A shake is a top-up, not a requirement. Your target depends on your body, goals and training, so plug your numbers into our protein intake calculator instead of guessing. If you are on a GLP-1, our protein on GLP-1 guide covers why protein matters more when appetite drops.

A few honest rules:

If you are using shakes to manage weight and have a history of disordered eating, please work with a doctor or registered dietitian. Every body and starting point is valid, and support makes this easier.

How to track a protein shake in Nouri

I built Nouri because I kept quitting calorie apps. With MyFitnessPal, the numbers were fine, but adding a normal dinner took several minutes and after a long day I just did not do it. Then I tried photo trackers and found they missed things the camera could not see.

A protein shake is the easy case, and that is exactly why it should take two seconds. In Nouri, you type "one can of Nurri chocolate" or say it out loud. On a busy morning, you can do it from the lock screen: "Hey Siri, track food in Nouri." Nouri breaks every entry into items with its reasoning and a confidence rating, so you can see what it assumed. Holding the can? Add the label as context, "150 calories, 30g protein," and Nouri recalculates. There is no barcode scanner. Honestly, you will not miss it.

Protein is where shakes shine. Nouri sets your protein goal at 1.0g per pound by default, and turning on Prioritize Protein raises it to 1.2g. After a few days, your first Nouri Report shows whether that daily shake is closing your protein gap or just adding 150 calories to a day that already had enough. Nouri scored 92.1/100 in our 100-meal accuracy benchmark (MyFitnessPal 77.0).
